- Viet Nam targets wealthy tourists
More than 70 per cent of tourist sites in Viet Nam lay in coastal provinces – and 70 per cent of tourists choose beach tours. According to the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism, coastal tourism has yet to tap its great potential – 3,200km of coastline containing many of the world's finest beaches.
- Power plans help save energy
The ministry's programme covered the 2006-10 period following the Prime Minister's instruction on electric saving in production and consumption. More than 1.18 billion kWh was saved this year alone, equal to 1.4 per cent of total consumption. The energy saving was meaningful, said the deputy minister of Industry and Trade Hoang Quoc Vuong, as it has been facing challenges due to prolonged droughts and erratic weather conditions.
- EVN improves power supply capacity
he group announced that from the beginning of the year up to now, EVN has already officially operated eight turbines under six power plant projects with total designed capacity of 1,310 MW such as Plei Krong hydropower plant, Se San 4 hydropower plant, Ban Ve hydropower plant, Quang Ninh 1 thermo power plant, Hai Phong 1 thermo power plant and Srepok 3 hydropower plant.
- S Koreans start $139m steel mill
The US$130 million mill, to cover 39,000 square metres, is expected to operate in February 2012. The mill will be the biggest stainless steel plant in the country, with the capacity of 150,000 tonnes per year and will employ 400 labourers. Products will be provided for local demand and exported to Southeast Asian, European and American markets.
- Vietsovpetro extends co-operation
During the 38th meeting of the joint venture held last Friday in Vung Tau, Nguyen Huu Tuyen, Vietsovpetro’s general director, said the joint-venture council had completed the paperwork to extend the partnership through 2030.
- Wintek kicks-off its touch screen plant in Vietnam
Wintek’s plant, its first in Vietnam, will manufacture touch screen and be put into operation within 2011 to manufacture touch screen for high-end products of Iphone and Ipad.

To achieve the targets, the city should continue to launch campaigns to raise the quality of tourism services and exploit new tours and services.
- Subterranean plan to boost city space
The department's director, Nguyen Dinh Hung, said the main objective was to use space more efficiently while still ensuring that the city underground technical infrastructural system would develop stably and in tune with natutral conditions and meet the city's socio-economic development needs, Hung said. The DPA will co-operate with other agencies to collect and update planning design and information related to existing technical infrastructure, he said.
