- Labour export market shows positive signs
The Air Service and Trading Joint Stock Company (Airseco) has just signed a contract to provide 100 ground keepers for golf courses in Japan over the next three years, according to General Director Nguyen Xuan Vui. The workers are scheduled to be sent to Japan by the end of the first quarter this year. They will receive a monthly salary of between 36-40 million dong (US$1,800-2,000) in the first year. The salary will be adjusted over the next two years.
- Vietnam fruit exporters to enjoy a takeoff
Experts forecast that dragon fruit exports to the US, Japan and South Korea will amount to 2,600 tons this year, doubling that in 2010.
- Value of farm exports expected to rise
Figures from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development show that Viet Nam's exports of agricultural, forestry and aquacultural products last year gained high value due to high prices and stable markets. The global economy would continue recovering, the ministry expects, and the export demand for agricultural, forestry and aquacultural products would increase.
- January rice exports hit record
Rice exporters had by the end of January registered to ship 1.5 million tonnes of rice on contracts, a year-on-year increase of 15.74 percent, the VFA said at a meeting with its member firms in Ho Chi Minh City on Feb. 10. They also registered a high volume on contracts to export rice in the first month of this year, mainly with Malaysia and Indonesia.
- Vietnam aims for a place in the top three garment and textile exporters
The Vietnam Garment and Textile Association (Vitas) has reported that Vietnam’s garments and textiles currently account for 2.5 percent of the world’s total market share. The sector is set to achieve more than US$13 billion in turnover in 2011 due to a growing global market share.
- Services sector lifts exports
Viet Nam’s services exports have been constantly rising, going up from US$4.26 billion in 2005 to $7.46 billion last year.
- Key farm produces for export in 2011
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Việt Nam’s rice output may reach nearly 40 million tons in 2011, which means that the country’s rice export volume would stand at around 5.5- 6.1 million tons compared to 6.8 million tons last year. Meanwhile, export turnover of aquaculture will continue rising with expected value of approximately US $5.5 billion this year, or an increase of US $500 million against 2010.
- Potential for mollusc exports in 2011
There are still challenges for mollusc exporters such as technical barriers and strict requirements for food safety and hygiene. In addition to the application of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), a process control system that identifies where hazards might occur in the food production and ISO22000, a standard dealing with food safety, Vietnamese products exported to the EU market have to meet the technical requirements developed by the British Retail Consortium.
- Export of aquatic products rises 2.3% in January
Experts said that the global demand for aquatic products will continue surging while supply shrinks in some countries which make it possible for Việt Nam to secure the export value of these products at US $5 billion this year.
- Vietnam’s export structure drastically changes
Exports of other products also grew, such as equipment, spare parts, chemicals, rubber and glass. Vietnam expanded its export markets with export revenues exceed the target. For example, export to India increased by 133 percent, to Taiwan 28 percent, Hong Kong 46 percent, the Republic of Korea 38 percent and China 45 percent.
