Companies caught sending spam SMS

According to the investigators from the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCERT) and the Hanoi police, EMOBI uses Nokia 3110C cellular phones and a software called SMS Caster to deliver ads about their gambling and fortune-telling services to thousands of mobile phone users.

VN, Japan cooperate in core technology development

Last July, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) approved a proposal by military-run mobile phone service provider Viettel to reduce phone tariffs by 10-15%. This brought Viettel’s charges to levels below Vinaphone and Mobifone. But just few days later, the Viet Nam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), which operates both Vinaphone and Mobifone systems, also reduced charges by 10-15% for their post-paid subscribers after getting the nod from MIC.
