JICA stands by cooperation commitments with Vietnam

Mr Kiyoshi spoke highly of the Vietnamese Government’s efforts to stabilise the macro economy and control inflation and considered this an important foundation for JICA to maintain its ODA cooperation commitments to Vietnam.

Mid-term CG meeting to take place in June

The mid-term CG meeting provides a forum for the Vietnamese government and international donors to review the country’s socio economic development and assess the progress of Vietnam’s commitments from the previous meeting and measures to improve the efficiency in using Official Development Assistance (ODA) resources.

Hanoi’s ODA disbursement in first four months nearly doubles

This year, the city will focus on implementing 20 projects, especially a drainage system to improve the environment in Hanoi, the urban railway line number 2 which connects Nam Thang Long and Tran Hung Dao, a pilot urban railway line, running from Nhon (Tu Liem district) to Hanoi Railway Station and another project to develop transport system in Hanoi.

Vietnam disburses $3.5Bln ODA in 2010

The borrowing capital and non-refundable disbursement reached $3.2 billion and $300 million this year. The total ODA capital registered was $3.172 billion in 2010, including $3.034 billion borrowing capital and $138 million non-refundable grants, the Ministry of Planning and Investment said.

Confidence and pressure

Vietnam has been recognised as a middle-income country (if annual per capita income of a country is US$950, Vietnam’s current level is now US$1,160). Now that Vietnam has joined the global group of middle-income countries, bilateral and multilateral donors will have to find other ways of approach to provide ODA for Vietnam because the assistance policies for middle-income countries are different.


Vietnam needs VND12T for road infrastructure projects next year

Of the sum, VND3.76 billion is expected to come from g-bonds and VND1.86 billion from the official development assistance (ODA).

What’s message the Vietnamese government wants to convey donors attending 2010 CG meeting? Vietnam’s economy will grow 6.7 per cent amid a strong economic rebound in 2010. However, stabilising the macroeconomy, particularly inflation, the exchange rate, trade deficit and balance of payments, are primary issues.

Int’l realty conference to open in HN late this month

The conference, held by the Việt Nam Real Estates Association and the Asia Construction Forum in coordination with relevant ministries, will focus on realty-related issues such as the world’s financial crisis, experience in using state budgets, loans, ODA in realty sector, urban planning and land fund establishment.
