Hong Kong-invested GreenFeed puts Dong Nai factory online

The new facility covers three hectares in Song May Industrial Park in Trang Bom District. The designed capacity for the beginning is 120,000 tons of products per year. The factory is just 15 kilometers north of Bien Hoa, the industrial city nearest to Ho Chi Minh City – the country’s biggest southern economic hub.

On December 2, Financial Times reported that hundreds of ounces of imitation gold have been traded in Hong Kong over the past year. This is the biggest scandal in Hong Kong in the last few decades.

FDI to flow into garments

Vitas vice chairman Le Van Dao said Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea would remain the biggest investors in Viet Nam's garment and textiles industry. He said several Taiwanese investors had plans to enlarge their investment in Viet Nam. For example, Eclat Textile Co, which has a factory in southern Dong Nai Province's Nhon Trach Industrial Zone, plans to buy a US$2.5 million factory capable of producing about 3-3.5 million units of garments and knitwear a year. Eclat also plans to invest roughly $4 million to set up a new garment factory that will have the capacity to produce 2.5 million units each year.

Trade fair opens in HCM City

More than 250 companies from Viet Nam, Algeria, mainland China, Hong Kong, India, South Korea, Nigeria, the US among others will display their products and services at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre. Exhibits include industrial machinery and equipment, printing technology, building materials, electrical, electronic, IT and telecommunication products, farm produce, processed food, garments, handicrafts and cosmetics.

Tina Phan, director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council for Indochina , said the agency wants to help Vietnamese companies gather more useful market information, match business partners and find customers through various channels including trade fairs.
