Hong Kong-invested GreenFeed puts Dong Nai factory online

The new facility covers three hectares in Song May Industrial Park in Trang Bom District. The designed capacity for the beginning is 120,000 tons of products per year. The factory is just 15 kilometers north of Bien Hoa, the industrial city nearest to Ho Chi Minh City – the country’s biggest southern economic hub.

Mekong Expo 2011 opens in Can Tho Province

Businesses from the Mekong Delta provinces, Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Lam Dong, Khanh Hoa, Dong Nai and Da Nang participated in the expo. Provinces receive wildfire alert as drought takes hold

Most of the provinces warned are in the southeast. Bac Giang, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Ha Nam, Kon Tum, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa and Tay Ninh provinces are said to be "extremely dangerous" because of the dry conditions they are experiencing.

HSBC Vietnam inaugurates two more new outlets

HSBC’s Dong Nai Branch is situated on the ground floor, zone B, of the Dong Nai Hotel, 57 Pham Van Thuan Street, Tan Tien Ward, Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province. Dong Nai 3 Hydroelectric Power Plant’s first turbine in operation

The construction of Dong Nai 3 Hydroelectric Power project began in 2004. Its total investment capital was VND6,000 billion. It consists of two turbines and produces over 600 million kW per hour every year.

ADB funds for construction of Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway

The Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway project has total length of 57.8 kilometres, running through Long An province’s districts of Ben Luc, Can Giuoc; HCM City’s districts of Binh Chanh, Nha Be, Can Gio and Nhon Trach Dist, Long Thanh Dist in Dong Nai province.

South seeks more US investors

The forum is one of many activities being held to mark 15 years of Viet Nam-US normalisation of relations and 10 years of the Viet Nam-US Bilateral Trade Agreement. The region consists of HCM City and Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Long An and Tien Giang provinces. It plays an important role in the country's economy since it annually contributes 60 per cent to the State budget, 70 per cent export turnover and tops the list of foreign direct investment.

Pollution threatens Dong Nai River's future

The Minister for Natural Resources and Environment, Pham Khoi Nguyen, said the pollution of Dong Nai River would eventually result in economic stagnancy in 12 provinces and cities in the region. The 586km Dong Nai River, with a basin covering 36,000 sq. km, provides water for household use and industry in these 12 provinces and cities.

Dong Nai farmers embrace new technology

Most farmers have replaced human labour with machines, with machines doing nearly 100 per cent of the ploughing. The province has invested in irrigation canals to provide water for cultivation, enabling many areas to grow crops all year round.

Dong Nai draws foreign investors

Industrial zones (IZs), which contributed the majority of provincial FDI, attracted $950.78 million in the past 11 months, a year-on-year increase of 75 per cent, according to the provincial IZs Management Board. The figure included $867 million of additional capital for 55 existing projects and $82.9 million for 32 newly-licensed projects. The recovery of the world economy created ideal conditions for foreign investors to expand in the province, said deputy head of the board Nguyen Phuong Lan.

FDI to flow into garments

Vitas vice chairman Le Van Dao said Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea would remain the biggest investors in Viet Nam's garment and textiles industry. He said several Taiwanese investors had plans to enlarge their investment in Viet Nam. For example, Eclat Textile Co, which has a factory in southern Dong Nai Province's Nhon Trach Industrial Zone, plans to buy a US$2.5 million factory capable of producing about 3-3.5 million units of garments and knitwear a year. Eclat also plans to invest roughly $4 million to set up a new garment factory that will have the capacity to produce 2.5 million units each year.

National film festival on traffic safety ends

The pirtures included of “The pain is still there”, “If…”, “Two pains”, “The reality and solution”, and “Ucompleted joy” by the traffic safety departments of the northern province of Bac Ninh, the southern province of Dong Nai, the Secutiry Televison of the notherrn province of Quang Ninh, Ha Giang Province and the central highland province of Buon Ma Thuot.

City calls for halt to hydro projects

Nguyen Van Nga, head of the city's Department of Natural Resources and Environment's Water Resources Management Division, said water quality and quantity in Dong Nai River had deteriorated since 2009. The intrusion of salt water into untreated water pumping stations of the Sai Gon Water Supply Co on Dong Nai River is threatening the city's water supply, said Nga.

$6 billion poured on building airport

The Ministry of Transport recently approved the final report of southern Dong Nai province-based airport’s master plan which was drawn by the Japan Airport Consultants Inc. (JAC).
