Bac Giang to boost trade promotion

Bac Giang has attracted 19 new projects worth a combined US$280 million since the beginning of this year, lifting the number of projects registered to the province to 647, capitalised at $2.4 billion.

Tet Fair to open in Hanoi

The traditional fair will showcase commodities including food, clothing, beverages, household goods, gifts, fruit, flowers, decorative plants and creatures and specialities from the regions such as: Hoa Binh’s stem wine (wine drunk out of a jar through a stem), Nam Roi grapefruit, Dien grapefruit, Bo Ha oranges, Dong Soai sprouts, Bac Giang noodles, Thai Nguyen tea, Dien Bien rice and Uoc Le pork pies.

Wintek Corporation is looking for an investment certificate to develop its $150 million plant in the first phase over 60 hectares to make touch screens for Apple’s Ipad and Iphones. Wintek’s plant, the first of its kind in Vietnam, is expected to be up and running by the end of 2011. According to Bac Giang’s industrial park management authority, Wintek is working with Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology to draw up a proposal to enjoy tax incentives for foreign firms investing in high-tech fields.

November budget revenue put at $2.1 billion

The 11-month figure was put at VND478.6 trillion ($22.8 billion), a year-on-year increase of 22.6 per cent and 3.7 per cent higher than planned. Thirty-two provinces, including Bac Giang, Nghe An, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Hau Giang and Ha Giang, have met their yearly revenue target.
